If you like horror movie it follows, or at least it usually does, that you are not easy to scare or just enjoy being terrified out of your wits. Luckily, there are many scary movies out there worth watching and re-watching. And here are just some of them.
1. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Imagine dreaming being stalked by a man with a disfigured face wearing a glove with a razor-sharp blade that gets you killed in your sleep. If this does not sound scary enough, the fear factor levels up since there is no waking up from that dream. A Nightmare on Elm Street made Freddy Krueger a household name – at least to those who have seen him slash and murder teenagers in their sleep.
2. Poltergeist (1982)
This is one ghost movie that will leave you wondering what lurks in the shadows, even in the familiar corners of your home. It has managed to scare many children and adults alike leaving some with a few sleepless nights. It might even leave you thinking of ways to defeat evil spirits in case they turn out to be as real as the movie shows.
3. The Exorcist (1973)
There are a lot of scary things about this movie. But one particular scene involving a spinning head will stick with you. If you have not thought about being possessed by a demon before, The Exorcist is guaranteed to change that.
4. The Shining (1980)
If you think humans are far less scary than demons and ghosts, think again! The Shining’s Jack Torrance, played by Jack Nicholson, gives new meaning to a crazy murderer. You have to watch this to truly appreciate the horror of what he did.
5. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
There are no supernatural beings on this one. But Anthony Hopkins playing a cannibalistic Dr. Hannibal Lecter is horrifying, to say the least. The Silence of the Lambs will make you realize that sometimes the most brutal serial killers out there do not fit common stereotypes.
